A Simple Life Magazine Tuesday, Nov 9 2010

I just found the most interesting magazine titled, A Simple Life,  at The Quilt Merchant in Winfield, IL.

If you love primitives and authentic interpretations of early American life, this publication is for you!  Here’s the link to the web site–doesn’t do the mag justice!–   http://asimplelifemagazine.com/

The Pansy’s Ode to Fall! Tuesday, Nov 9 2010

Enjoy the yellow and purple Pansy blooms until Thanksgiving with this great little pumpkin pie planter!

Supplies needed:

Pie Pumpkin–about the 1lb size

2 or 3 Pansy Plants

What to do:

  1. Carve off the top of the pumpkin and scoop out the seeds. Don’t be fussy since dirt is going in next!
  2. fill the hollowed out pumpkin half full of dirt-this is a great time to use dirt from a withered summer planter.
  3. press the pansies into the pumpkin –really press them down–then cover with a bit more dirt.
  4. water well & place in the perfect spot on your deck or balcony!

These cute little odes to fall will last especially long if you bring them next to the south facing wall if the evening is going to be especially cold!
